Robert McConnell Ivey was born about 1810 in TN, probably Maury Co. He married Lucinda Shadden in 1826 in Independence Co, AR, after which they lived in Crawford Co, AR. They later returned to Independence Co where they appear in the 1840 and 1850 census. Robert died in 1852, when his estate was administered by Thomas G. Ivey, thought to be a brother.

Robert and Lucinda had sons Manley, Green, Robert, James, and Lewis, and daughters Maria, Ann, Lucretia, Amanda, and Barbary.
