Reuben was born about 1789 in Robeson Co, NC, and died before 1850 in MS. He married Elizabeth Hudson. They had sons Jacob, Jason N., and William Thomas Ivey, who later moved to Gonzales Co, TX.

Jacob R. Ivey died 1822 in Jones Co, GA.  In his will, Jacob left his home in Robeson Co, NC, to Edith, and the remainder of his estate to Reuben Ivey and Findal Ivey. The relationship between Edith, Jacob, Reuben, and Findal was not stated.

Some researchers also list Alice and Richard Clinton Ivey as siblings of Reuben and Findal.
