George Ivey was born about 1793 in South Carolina.  He married first Elizabeth Gilbreath in 1816 in St. Clair County Illinois. By 1822 they were in Arkansas as Lovina Ivey was born there.

George and Elizabeth had four children:  Lovina, Hugh, Elizabeth Caroline and Nancy.

George Ivey married Mrs. Mary Covert Alstott on April 11,1850 Franklin Co. Arkansas.
